Vail Jazz presents Peter Olstad's Rocky Mountain All-Stars August 21 at Vail Village's Solaris Plaza for a swingin' good time!
5PM FREE beginner Lindy Hop dance lesson
5:30PM Live performance and social dancing
Join the Vail Jazz community to learn the basics of Lindy Hop at this summer’s last FREE concert on the Solaris Plaza!
Dance professionals Kenny and Delilah from Swingin’ Denver will be leading FREE beginner Lindy Hop lessons! Lindy Hop is a joyful, free-spirited, and infectious form of vernacular dance created in the 1920s within the Black community. It is a partnered social dance, but you don’t need to bring your own partner. We rotate during the class so that you have a chance to meet and dance with many community members, while learning the history of this fast-paced art form!
All ages are welcome! Free swing lessons begin at 5PM, and the dancing will continue throughout the show. Sign up to reserve your lesson spot here.
Put your new (or refined!) dance skills to good use at the concert immediately following the lesson. Swing jazz trumpeter Peter Olstad is a California native who studied jazz performance and education at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Now based in Colorado, Peter has assembled some of the finest musicians in the region to bring a robust and passionate swing show to Vail.
